About us

Lekkid is a project born in Barcelona to create innovative products that develop children’s creativity

The world is constantly changing, and the skills demanded are evolving with it. The 21st century needs put the focus on skills where the social-emotional part becomes more important, both in personal and professional life. Success in both areas is increasingly related to interpersonal issues and to the development of soft skills such as creativity, problem solving and teamwork.

Today, many experts point out that there is a gap between the competencies required in jobs and the skills originated from the current educational system, in which the development of theoretical knowledge takes priority over soft skills. According to multiple scientific research, there are five skills needed to succeed in this new century (5 C’s): communication, collaboration, commitment, creativity and critical thinking.

How to develop soft skills?

We have already talked about the importance of developing soft skills in children. Specialists such as the writer and journalist Paul Tough highlight the relevance of starting to work on them as soon as possible in order to promote a better future for children.

It has been proven that when it comes to achieving personal and professional success in the 21st century, interpersonal skills are even more important than technical ones. That is why, as parents, it is crucial that we promote certain activities that help develop these skills from a very young age.

Toys for children of the 21st century

From Lekkid we understand the game as a playful learning tool through which most of the skills of children can be developed. Crucial aspects for their future such as creativity, are skills that can be learned and developed, they are not innate as many people believe.

Thanks to new pedagogical approaches such as Reggio Emilia and new play alternatives like open-ended games, families have a wide offer to encourage the skills required for the success of their child.

In Lekkid we currently have two product lines of open-ended construction sets designed to develop the most creative part of children. On the one hand, we have Imaginary Fauna, a game composed of interconnectable pieces of different materials and colors, available in Jungle and Desert versions. On the other hand, we recently launched Magical Lights: an open-ended game where children combine the pieces by designing shapes and figures in order to build their own lamps.
