WHAT IS CREATIVITY?

It is the process of coming up with original, VALUABLE ideas. In their first six years of life, a child develops many of the skills that will mark their future. One of these skills is CREATING. Though all children are creative, there are ways to stimulate creativity to nurture and sustain this skill.

Creativity is key if we wish our children to be independent in their way of thinking, to be able to wholly assimilate the situations in which they live, to know how to think about and question things, to be sensitive to their surroundings and to develop a propensity to explore the world around them, in order to come up with innovative solutions to everyday problems, to learn to become self-aware, etc.

PRODUCTS. Imaginary Fauna

It consists of basic pieces, set in and out of context, made of different materials (beech and methacrylate) that can be interconnected to create various figures and shapes. It is an open-ended game in which there is not one sole solution and every solution is valid, whereby the child can develop different creativity skills, experimenting with, transforming and combining materials, and thus enhancing cognitive flexibility.

CREATIVE SKILLS IN IMAGINARY FAUNA

Being flexible is knowing how to create, explore, generate, imagine, improvise, invent, modify, relate, transform and adapt.

Cognitive flexibility heightens children’s ability to relate to others in different environments; in other words, building their capacity to interact and accept others as they are. Cognitive flexibility comprises a set of mental functions that allow changing strategies to be adopted or mental sets to be shifted. As the term implies, it does not only involve providing a solution to conflicts, but having greater adaptability to new situations, which ensures that children are happier, demonstrate a better attitude to new situations and feel less frustrated in the event of possible change.
